Fog blamed for UK pile-up
LEWKNOR, England -- Two people were killed when more than 100 vehicles were involved in a pile-up in thick fog on a motorway in England on Thursday.
Thames Valley Police said there were "many walking wounded" following the accident on the M40 southbound near Lewknor in Oxfordshire on Thursday morning.
The accident happened at about 7am in poor visibility when a motorist and a van were in collision.
The motorcyclist was killed in the original crash and a second man died later in an Oxford hospital.
Many injured were taken to hospitals in Oxford, some by helicopter, where they were treated for a range of serious injuries, a spokeswoman for John Radcliffe hospital told the UK Press Association.
Tailbacks of about six miles were reported on the M40 with disruption expected to last several hours.
