U.S. plane crashes in Afghanistan; 8 hurt
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (CNN) -- A U.S. Air Force MC-130P crashed early Wednesday in a remote section of eastern Afghanistan, injuring all eight crew members, according to a statement from U.S. Central Command. The injuries were not life-threatening. Central Command said the crew members were being taken to a medical facility in the Afghanistan theater of war. The cause of the crash, which happened at 2:50 a.m. (5:20 p.m. EST Tuesday), was not immediately known, but Central Command said it did not appear to be the result of hostile fire. Although military officials did not elaborate on the plane's mission, the MC-130P is often used in support of U.S. Special Forces. |
