Two UK soldiers shot dead in Kabul
KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) -- Two British service personnel have died from gunshot wounds at Kabul airport, according to the commander of British forces in Kabul. "No other person or party is thought to have been involved in this incident and I can also confirm that both personnel suffered fatal gunshot wounds," Col. Simon Levey said on Saturday. The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) commander said more information will be released. He did not respond to questions about the circumstances of their deaths, pending notification of next of kin. The incident happened shortly before 1:00 a.m. (4:30 p.m. Friday ET). Levey said a full investigation was under way. About 450 British military personnel are stationed in Kabul as part of the ISAF. |
