Another horror bus crash in ChinaHong Kong, China -- A passenger bus has plunged off a road and down a 100 meter (340 foot) high slope in China's southwest, killing 10 people. The state-run official Xinhua News Agency said the accident happened on Saturday in Hechuan, a city about 900 miles southwest of Beijing. Eight other people were seriously injured, the report said. It said the bus had 58 people aboard. A preliminary investigation blamed the accident on the driver's inexperience, Xinhua reported.
The accident follows two other bus crashed in China in the past week. On Thursday, six Hong Kong tourists and their guide were killed and 22 others injured when the bus they were traveling on plunged off a cliff in the southern Guanxi province. On Tuesday, three other Hong Kong residents died when their tour bus crashed on the Shenzhen-Shantou expressway in southern China. Travel is popular in China over the Lunar New Year holidays. China counted in the Year of the Horse which began on Tuesday. |
