SRINIGAR, India (CNN) -- Two people were killed and 20 others injured Saturday in a grenade attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, police said.

The attack in downtown Srinigar comes after a weeklong series of grenade attacks that have injured dozens of others in Srinigar and surrounding areas.

At least 52 people were wounded Friday in two separate grenade explosions in the area, according to police.

Militant groups in the Kashmir territory have battled Indian rule there for about 12 years with estimates of the death toll varying from 33,000 to 80,000 people.

India and Pakistan have fought two of their three wars since 1947 over Kashmir.

In Pakistan, a military parade marking National Day -- the day in 1940 a resolution was put forth that led to the creation of Pakistan -- was canceled, President Pervez Musharraf said, because most of the country's armed forces are patrolling the borders with India

"Kashmir and the rest of the issues should be sorted out by mutual talk but if India wants to talk in an aggressive way, than it should have no misconceptions," Musharraf said. "If anyone tries to challenge (Pakistan's) power, they will learn a lesson that they will remember."

India has also amassed troops along its border with Pakistan, which it blames for harboring militants that carried out a deadly attack on the Indian Parliament in December. India also accuses Pakistan of supporting the militants in Kashmir, an allegation Pakistan denies.
