Indian tribal rebels kill 12NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- At least 12 people have been killed and four wounded when suspected militants in India's remote northeast opened fire on a truck traveling to a local market, police and other sources said. Police blamed militants from the National Democratic Front of Bodoland, an ethnic tribal group fighting to carve a separate homeland in Assam state. No group has claimed responsibility. The incident took place in the town of Raksamgiri on Tuesday, police said. The NDFB and other groups fighting for varying degrees of autonomy for Assam's Bodos have been blamed for numerous attacks -- including several train bombings -- over the past 23 years. |
