Indian jet crashes into houses
AMBALA, India (CNN) -- An Indian Air Force fighter jet has crashed into two houses in a city neighborhood, killing at least two people and injuring nine others, including four who were in serious condition, officials say. Officials scouring the rubble for survivors expected the casualty figures to rise in the accident, which took place while the Jaguar fighter-bomber was on a routine training mission over the city, in Haryana province, about 185 kilometers (115 miles) northwest of New Delhi. The accident, which is being investigated, is believed to be the result of a technical failure. At least five people living in one of the damaged houses were missing and feared dead. An Air Force spokesman said the plane's pilot bailed out safely before the jet crashed in the accident, which took place at 3:20 p.m. (0950 GMT). The injured people suffered burns and were rushed to a hospital. -- CNN's Suhasini Haidar contributed to this report
