MANILA, Philippines (CNN) -- A turboprop plane carrying about 40 tourists heading to a resort island crashed at the Manila International Airport, officials at the airport told CNN.

Only minor injuries were reported in Thursday's incident.

The Asian Spirit Airlines plane departed Manila en route to Caticlan on the resort island of Boracay in the central Philippines, but reported problems and returned to Manila. The plane crashed while attempting to land.

Officials said 45 people were aboard the plane, including the crew, and that many of the passengers were South Koreans.
