Knife arrest at Heathrow AirportLONDON, England (CNN) -- A man has been charged with carrying offensive weapons into Heathrow Airport, authorities have said. The man was charged under Britain's Aviation Security Act and bailed to appear before magistrates on February 1. A spokesman for BAA, which operates Britain's main airports, said a man had been arrested on Wednesday after he was allegedly found carrying "sharp items" in his shoes and socks. The man was arrested as he was going through a security check at Terminal 4 at the airport west of London. The man is alleged to have had a knife and pliers as well as a screwdriver hidden in a glasses case. He had intended to board a British Airways flight to Seattle, officials added. |
