Spanish police helicopter crashesMADRID, Spain -- Three people died on Friday when a police helicopter crashed in the southern outskirts of Madrid, emergency services said. It was the second fatal helicopter crash in the Madrid area this week, Reuters reported. The helicopter, flying from the southern city of Seville to the Cuatro Vientos military airbase near Getafe, crashed at around 1015 GMT. "At first we thought two people had died, but later a third body was found in the wreckage," a spokesman for Madrid's emergency services told Spanish national radio. There was no immediate word on the cause of the crash, though the spokesman said there was thick fog in the area at the time. Another three people died on Monday when their army aircraft crashed near Colmenar Viejo, northwest of the capital. |
