LONDON, England -- Two British paratroopers involved in a shooting in Kabul in which a young Afghan man was killed have been recalled to Britain to face questioning about the incident.

The soldiers remain on active duty, according to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) .

ISAF said it came under fire for the first time in the Afghan capital on Saturday when an unidentified gunman shot at six British paratroopers at an observation post in western Kabul.

Mohammad Ishaq, whose brother, Amaun, was killed in the shooting, said his family was unarmed when the paratroopers fired on their car.

Four people were wounded, including a pregnant woman, who was being taken to hospital and later gave birth.

The two soldiers, both from the 2nd Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, were traveling back to the UK on Tuesday.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman told CNN: "They are being brought back to the UK as part of standard procedures when an investigation like this is ongoing.

"It is normal to extract individuals from the frontline. The investigation will take some time, possibly a week or two. Much will depend on forthcoming information from all those on the ground.

"Investigations into this incident are being carried out by the Afghan police as well as the Royal Military Police."

The spokesman said the two men, whose names or ranks have not been released, were not under arrest and there was no plans for any of the remaining four men from the patrol concerned to return home.

ISAF is comprised of about 4,500 forces from a number of countries, including Britain, France, Turkey and Germany, that are providing security in Afghanistan as the interim government begins to take hold.

The investigation into the shooting is being headed by Afghan police, an ISAF spokesman said, while British forces are providing forensic and other assistance.

According to ISAF, the British force maintain "exclusive jurisdiction" over their personnel.
