UK jet crashes into riverLONDON, England -- Two RAF crewmen have been rescued after their jet crashed into the River Humber in northern England. The pair ejected just before the Royal Air Force Tornado GR4 went down as it flew over the river at low altitude on Friday. Witnesses said it looked as though it was trying to avoid the nearby built-up area of Brough, having taken off from RAF Marham, Norfolk, on the east coast of England. Both men were picked up after a search carried out by three helicopters from RAF Leconfield, RAF Wattisham and the Humberside Police helicopter, as well as lifeboats. Their condition is not yet known although one is fully conscious, the UK's Press Association says. They were taken to the nearby Lincoln Hospital. |
