GLASGOW, Scotland -- Northern Ireland soccer star Neil Lennon has announced his decision to quit international football after receiving a death threat. The following are the highlights of his career:

1987: Began playing for Manchester City where he made just one appearance after being blighted with a back injury.

1990: Joined Crewe on a free transfer. Four years later he helped them win promotion to the English Second Division.

1994: Won his first Northern Ireland cap in a friendly against Mexico in Miami, Florida.

1996: Joined Leicester City for £750,000.

1997: Won Coca-Cola Cup winners' medal after replay defeat of Middlesbrough at Hillsborough.

1999: Won runners-up medal in Worthington Cup after Tottenham beat Leicester at Wembley. Later in the year he was one of 14 players charged with failing to assist the Football Association's investigation into black market ticketing for the final but later cleared.

2000: Won second League Cup in 2-1 win over First Division Tranmere Rovers. In December he moved from Leicester in a £5.75million switch to Celtic.

2001: Booed by Northern Ireland fans during defeat to Norway. He later revealed he was considering retiring from international action as a result of the abuse.

That year, he is a member of the side that beats Hibernian 3-0 to lift the Scottish FA Cup and complete the Treble, having already won the Scottish League Cup and the Premier League.

2002: Clinches back-to-back Premier League titles.
