Motorist survives 34 hours in bog
DUBLIN, Republic of Ireland -- A woman is being treated for pneumonia in a Dublin hospital after she spent 34 hours in a car submerged in a waterlogged bog, the Irish Independent reported. English-born Lisa Landau survived because an air pocket meant she could breathe after her car swerved off the road in County Wicklow, south of the capital, and sank upside-down on Saturday night, Reuters quoted the newspaper as saying. She was only rescued on Monday when the 39-year-old horse-riding instructor and showjumper saw part of her vehicle above the bog and alerted police. Water had damaged her mobile phone, cutting off her link with the outside world, the report said.
