Arab League head to visit Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Iraq said Tuesday its foreign minister would meet with the Arab League secretary-general in Baghdad to "settle down the differences between Arab countries to regain stability in the region."

Iraq had been offering conciliatory statements in recent days toward the Arab League.

A spokesman for Iraq Foreign Minister Naji Sabri Al-Hadithi told CNN the foreign minister would meet with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa on January 18.

The spokesman said Iraq was ready to "stand behind any initiative to clear up the atmosphere and settle down differences between Arab countries to regain stability in the region."
