Israeli sources: Palestinians rounded up in West BankJERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israeli troops Sunday arrested five activists from Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah organization during an operation in the West Bank village of Yatta, according to Israeli military sources. The troops entered the village south of Hebron early Sunday and continued their searches into the day. During separate operations in the West Bank, Israeli forces arrested two other Palestinians wanted by Israeli security forces, according to the Israel Defense Forces. One was arrested near Ramallah and the other near Tulkarem. Also Sunday morning -- the second day of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish new year -- an explosive device went off in the Jewish settlement enclave in Hebron, according to an Israeli army spokesman. No one was injured. |
