Earlier, a Palestinian gunman dressed as an Israeli soldier opened fire at an Israel Defense Forces position near Netzarim in Gaza, according to Palestinian sources. They said the man, a member of the radical group Islamic Jihad, was shot dead by Israeli troops.

In addition, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian on Monday morning in the West Bank town of Jenin after he climbed on top of an Israeli armored vehicle, an IDF spokesman said.

According to the IDF, Israeli troops feared the Palestinian might have explosives. The Palestine Red Crescent Society said the Palestinian was a teenager.

Israeli troops entered Jenin overnight after reports of Palestinians violating a curfew and were confronted by a group of gunmen who opened fire on them, the IDF said.

One Israeli soldier was injured in the exchange of gunfire, the IDF said. Four Palestinians also were wounded, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society.
