JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israeli forces early Monday killed two Hamas activists as they tried to infiltrate Israel from Gaza, according to Palestinian security sources.

The men were killed near Beit Hanoun, the sources said.

In a separate overnight incident, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian gunman in an exchange of fire near the Gaza settlement of Neve Dekalim, according to Palestinian security sources.

Israeli military sources said three gunmen opened fire on an Israel Defense Forces outpost near the settlement, but could not confirm if any of the Palestinian gunmen had been shot by Israeli forces returning fire.

None of the soldiers was wounded.
