GAZA CITY, Gaza (CNN) -- A 9-year-old Palestinian girl was fatally wounded Saturday evening when Israeli forces fired into her home, Palestinian sources said.

The Israeli fire came from Gush Katif, a block of Jewish settlements in southern Gaza, and toward the Khan Yunis refugee camp, according to the sources.

Israeli military sources, however, said armed Palestinians opened fire at a military post in Khan Yunis, and that the Israeli forces returned fire, which came from a cemetery outside the city limits. The soldiers reported that they did not hit any targets.

The Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz identified the girl as Hanneen Abu Suleiman and reported that according to Palestinian sources she was playing outside her home in Khan Yunis when troops opened fired from a nearby settlement.

In a separate incident late Saturday evening in northern Gaza, Palestinian militiamen in the village of Beit Hanoun lobbed shells near Israeli troops stationed near the Erez Crossing. The troops fired back, wounding three men. According to Palestinian sources, the men were part of the Popular Resistance Committee.

Houses demolished

Also Saturday, Israeli forces in the West Bank demolished two houses south of Hebron which they said belonged to Palestinian militants.

The first was in the village of Hirbat A-Tabka, a house that had belonged to Jamil Atuan. The Israel Defense Forces said Atuan was a Tanzim activist killed last December, when he opened fire on an Israeli in the West Bank; the Israeli fired back and killed him.

The IDF said Atuan had been involved in several shooting attacks in the last two years -- killing two soldiers and a civilian and wounding another soldier and three civilians.

In the village of Dura, Israeli forces demolished a house belonging to an Islamic Jihad member, Abed Talame Kik. He was involved in a shooting attack in August 2001, but there were no casualties in that attack, the IDF said.

The sources denied reports that one of the militants was linked to Friday's attack on a dining hall in the nearby Jewish settlement of Otniel, which left four Israelis dead and 10 others wounded.

Cairo talks continue

In Cairo Saturday, Palestinian militant groups continued a second round of talks with Egyptian officials that began several weeks ago, militant sources in Gaza and the West Bank told CNN.

The aim of the talks is to reach an agreement on policies and practices in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

Members of Egyptian intelligence services met Saturday with militant groups individually. Some of those represented include Hamas, Fatah, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

The militant groups' representatives continued to discuss a possible cease-fire against Israeli targets.

In late January, the groups plan to hold a final meeting with representatives from all Palestinian militant groups.
