SEOUL, South Korean (CNN) -- China's World Cup came to an end on Thursday with a 0-3 defeat to Turkey.

The loss means that China failed to scored a goal in any of its three group matches, going down 0-2 to Costa Rica and 0-4 to Brazil.

A less than impressive World Cup debut for China, but more joy for Turkey who go through to the next round for the first time in their history, beating Costa Rica for the second spot in Group C on goal difference.

The victory came with the help of two goals in the opening 10 minutes; the first when Hasan Sas pounced on a defensive error to slam a goal in only the sixth minute. Three minutes later, Bulent Korkmaz headed home a cross to make it two. Umit Davala made it three five minutes from time.

China was reduced to 10 men when defender Shao Jiayi was sent off in the 59th minute, 13 minutes after coming on as a substitute, for a late, reckless challenge from behind.

Turkey's victory, along with Costa Rica's 2-5 defeat against Brazil, allowed the Turks to qualify behind Brazil as group C runners-up. (Brazil v Costa Rica)
