A concert for all the senses
Crash! Boom! Blast!

(CNN) -- What do you get when you mix a cadre of crashing cymbals, booming bongo drums, piercing brass instruments, dancing musicians and swirling color? The answer: Blast!, a concert that assaults the senses as much as it entertains.
Blast! originated in the Midwest in 1984 when the Indiana Bugle Corps began performing unique, high-energy shows. In 1993, the corps, in concert with the German Bugle Corps, morphed into a brass theatre group.
Blast! highlights the versatility of brass instruments like trumpets, French horns and trombones, while at the same time featuring unusual instruments like wind chimes and didgeridoos.
The entire musical experience is tied together with themes of color and high-energy dancing. Blast! uses a young, enthusiastic cast to take the art form of music and movement to another level. The result can be electrifying and exhausting.
Each performer doubles as musician and athlete, and the fast-paced show requires constant motion.
"One of the comments I hear the most is that people almost feel exhausted watching the show because they are so fully a part of it that they almost feel drained at the end," said trumpeter Alex McDonald.
CNN's Kathy Nellis takes us to a Blast! concert for a peek at this electrifying show.
