DONNA KELLEY, CNN ANCHOR: But we want to update you on a little more information that we have.
Our folks here at CNN working the story trying to get as much information for you. Now, we know that a 6-year-old child shot by another student at Bule Elementary School in suburban Mount Morris Township. That is near Flint, Michigan. And you can get an idea of what this school looks like here.
A moment ago, we had some pictures that they were evacuated the school. The child, who's been shot, taken to the trauma unit at a hospital in Flint. And when we talked to spokeswomen at the hospital, there you can see the pictures of the evacuation of the school. When we talked to the spokeswomen at the hospital, she could not provide us with some information at this point on the child's condition.
So we will have to wait and here how that child who has been shot, how they are faring. Initial reports that a first-grade student brought a handgun to school, was showing it off to classmates, and it fired. And so that's when they evacuated the school, and the parents have been notified.
We don't know, of course, if all the parents have been notified, but they are in the process of that probably, and then there was no further gunfire.
So what appears to have happened is, at this elementary school that is near Flint, Michigan, a first grader brought a handgun to school, showing it off to classmates, it fired, another 6-year-old child was shot, who is at the hospital right now. And we don't have information on the condition of the child who was shot.
There will be a news conference at 12:15. We expect to bring that live to you here on CNN.
